I'm a Pepe

After a successful trip to IKEA, (hello mirror, cute pillows, and little plant), the Hubs and I were on our way to our pizza throw down. We arrived first at Sally's.

And it was closed.

Not to be discouraged, we drove down the street until we saw the Pepe's sign. Luckily Pepe's was open, we could tell by the line out the door.

This is me, waiting in line outside in the freezing cold to get me some ZA.

After thirty minutes, the manager came outside to thank us for waiting and offered for us to go next door where more seats were available. But the Hubs and I wanted to eat at the Original Pepe's. So we waited, and waited some more. Eventually we were assigned lucky table number 23. With growling stomachs and high anticipations we ordered two pies. One with tomatoes and basil,

And the other pepperoni, sausage, and garlic.

Can we say pizza nirvana?

The pizza did not disappoint, definitely worth the wait.

The problem was, we couldn't stop eating it. After looking up to find the Hubs like this:

I realized we had reached the end of our pizza throw down. Turns out it was between us and the pizza, not the pizza versus the pizza.

We had high anticipation but it turns out, our bark was bigger than our bite.

There is always next weekend...

Pizza Throw Down

Saturday, the Hubs and I are going to New Haven. If you ask me, we are going for this.

A full length mirror from IKEA, so I can stop standing on our bathtub everyday.

If you ask the Hubs, we are going for this.

That's right, for a trip to IKEA a woman has to succumb to many things. No, not just a trip to a pizza parlor. A trip to THREE pizza parlors. I'm not complaining, I love me some ZA but I recently found out, you can't just eat one slice, you have to order whole pies. When I objected to this, the Hubs said, "B, I don't tell you how to shop, don't tell me how to 'do' pizza". Yikes, he's serious. The truth is, these are three very famous pizza joints.

Pepe's

Sally's

and Modern Pizza.

You may have heard of Pepe's and Sally's. They are literally a few doors down from one another. There is a ginormous rivalry between the two. Pepe's started first and was apparently so good, Frank Sinatra used to send a car from Manhattan (that's right, NYC) to Pepe's for their famous pie. Then Pepe's nephew Sal thought he could do it better and opened Sally's APizza (that's how it's pronounced in Italy) just a few doors down. Thus began the great debate, are you a Sally's fan or a Pepe's fan? There is no grey in this decision, it's black and white. It's like the Yankees versus the Red Sox. You cannot straddle the line here people. So, I need to find out if I am a Sally or a Pepe.

But then, the Hubs threw Modern Pizza into the mix, which he says is the best of all three.

Honestly, we will be leaving with a buttload of left over pizza, but at least I will be able to checkout the new fiver I gained in my new full length mirror.

Spring Essentials

This weekend, I had a very successful shopping trip. (Much to the Hubs dismay)

For the first time, I actually made a list of spring/summer essentials that I needed. (or wanted)

Although the list was pretty long, I did manage to get a lot of these 'essentials' checked off the list.

First up was a chambray shirt.

Worn with black skinny jeans or a printed skirt, and I'm in love. And yes, I did have to purchase those two things as well. I told you it was a successful trip.

Skinny jeans are tricky, my oh my are they tricky. I tried on a pair in Nordstrom's and turns out they were Jeggings and it turns out Jeggins aren't for everyone. Let's just leave it at that. Luckily Madewell made me feel much better about myself and I fell in love with this pair.

I can wear them with flats or heels, rolled up or down.

Next on my list was a printed skirt. Last summer I wore jeans only and I have made a vow this summer to show a little leg. Hopefully tan ones.

If I get tired of my chambray shirt, thick brown belt, and gold sandals, with my printed skirt, I can also opt for a white tank and jean jacket.

Said jacket will also pair nicely with my new Gap Scout pants. I never thought I would say I was excited about khaki, cargo-esque pants but these pants are super cute, laid back and comfortable. Great to throw on for a lazy day.

Worn with these sandals, also from the Gap. You can't go wrong for $30 bucks.

Lastly, I needed a light weight cardigan to throw in my bag when the sun goes down. Worn with everything on this list including my new jean cut offs I purchased when I was home. Who me? Shopping issues? I am sure that I have no clue what you are talking about.

Still needed. Printed dress, maybe this one.

As well as distressed jeans, a bathing suit, and a few other items I have up my sleeve.

Like I said, no shopping problem here!

Spring Fever

Today was 70 degrees.

Me and my homegirls drank wine, sat outside, had a bbq, and watched the boys act like 12 year olds.

Can't ask for much more.

Happiness

Today, I had to turn the air conditioning on in the car. Yah, you heard right. After that I rolled down the window and looked like this

It doesn't take much to make this girl happy after a long, hard, winter.

The hubs and I are going out to eat OUTSIDE this evening and our friends have already planned a BBQ for this weekend, complete with outdoor beer pong to take advantage of every ray of sunshine we can get.

Now I know some of you think I am crazy for living up north but one thing is for sure. Northerners definitely do not take sunny luke-warm days for granted.

REJOICE, I can feel my toes again.

Lucky

Friday I am heading home.

Here is the picture my brother sent me today with the following comment.

"This is how excited I am to see you. I hope you feel the same."

Here is what I sent him back.

"THIS is how excited I am to see you. CANNOT wait!"

In case you weren't aware, I adore my brother and sister. I know not everyone has the kind of relationship that I do with mine and I know how special it is. Some people lose the relationship over time once they get married and have kids. I know that will never happen with us. I will be all up in their grills no matter how much is going on in their life, or mine. They happen to be two of my favorite people in the entire universe. And they are blood, so that means they aren't going anywhere.

How lucky am I?

Loving

Loving these silver ballet flats from The Gap.

I can't wait to use my friends and family coupon to purchase them.

Comfy AND cute, you just can't ask for anything more.

Counting the Days

Until I can smell the salty air.

Eat some yummy food.

Taste some yummy wine.

And see these lovely faces.

Oh yah, and spoil this little chicken rotten!

A Little Tip.

Dear Pubescent Cashier at Big Y Supermarket,

Maybe next time I have just taken 482 items out of my cart,

you could wait until I have paid to put the '12 items or less' sign up,

thus saving me from the six people who just got in line giving me the 'stink eye'.

Thanks.

In The Jeans

Confession.

I really want a jean shirt. I tried one on at J. Crew this weekend and the Hubs said I looked like an 'art teacher with a smock on'.

Here is how I would put it together.

Jealousy

Jealousy is getting a message from your brother last night that read, 'Guess who I am hanging out with?'

And then seeing this picture, of him and your bestie, Kristen. Two of your favoritist people in the world. Hanging out together. Without you. At a cool concert in Atlanta. While you are shoving ice cream down your throat watching Iron Man, getting ready for bed at 9:45p.m.

Not.

Cool.
