Happy, Happy.

This weekend is one of my favorite's b-days!

Happy 30th Krit!

She brought the 'time of your life' photo ops into our lives,

and for that, we should all be very grateful.

Easiest. Dinner. Ever.

Step 1. Cut up tomatoes and throw in a pot.

Step 2. Throw in crushed garlic and fresh basil, cover pot.

Step 3. Go to work.

Step 4. Come Home. Boil pasta, throw cold tomato mixture on hot pasta. Add olive oil and shave on fresh parmesan reggiano.

Sit back and enjoy the deliciousness.

Side note: Be prepared for your whole house to smell like garlic when you walk in, this means you did it right.

Enjoy

Guilty Pleasures

One of the best things about Summer are the stellar movies. Ironic that when you should be outside, you find yourself inside in a cold dark theatre....

Anywhoo, here is what I am looking forward to.

I was never an die-hard Sex and City fan, probably because I didn't have HBO when it was on, but I have seen quite a few episodes and they are always entertaining. Plus, the clothes are enough to want to bite my arm off in envy.

And of course...

Yes, I am a Twi-hard, and while I know it would be so much cooler if not everyone and their mother was one also, there is a reason why it has so many fans. Because it's THAT good. Now don't try and just watch the movies, because I get it, they are super cheezy but if you read the books first.... AMAZEBALLS. Serious, I was a sceptic and converted and since then am proud to say I have converted many people as well. Again, you will thank me later.

P.S. If you do decide to go see Eclipse, I would wait a good three weeks or so after it's out, otherwise you won't hear a single ounce of dialogue over the screaming teenagers every.single.time Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner come on screen. Also, if you see cell phones in the air, that would be them taking pictures of the duo as well. I know, crazy.

P.P.S. While you are at it, grab yourself a pack of coconut M&M's. Phenomenal.

Rent the Runway

One of my biggest shopping mistakes is buying special occasion dresses. I guess my train of thought is, it's a special occasion so I should have a special dress and once that special dress is worn, it's not so special anymore. Ask the BCBG dress in my Mom's closet that was purchased for a wedding but didn't make the cut when a special-er dress was found. Or you can ask the Banana Republic dress in my sister's closet that was worn to my cousin's graduation and is now living in South Carolina. Or you can ask a couple dresses in my closet with tags on them. Woops. This is good news for my kin but bad news for my wallet, not to mention it drives the hubster batty.

But Hallelujah, and praise the Fashion Gods. Rent the Runway is a free membership website that let's you rent designer dresses for such little chump change as $50 bucks and then you can return the darn thing and get a new one! You don't even have to keep the tags and try and fit the plastic through the hole in the label where is used to be, to try and return it. It's a miracle!

Here are a few of my favs.

Tibi

Yigal Azrouel
Matthew Williamson
Tibi

Robert Rodriquez Black Label

Herve Leger

If you need to accessorize your temp dress, you can rent jewelery to go with it too. Genius.

Your. Welcome.

I'm Back

I had a mild case of depression yesterday leaving the family, but a little yoga, hubs and lulu helped put a smile back on my face. (not in that order)

I have some great pictures I can't wait to share but in the meantime you should whip up one of these lovelys.

Rum and Pink Lemonade.

This just so happened to be the drink special at the buoy bar last weekend. So simple, yet sooo delicious. I had about 22 of these sitting by the pool with the sun beating down on my face, a cool ocean breeze and my favorite girls by my side. Trashy mags, ipods, gossip and

I. WAS. IN. HEAVEN.

This will be my go to drink for the summer and remind me of my favs.

A Message brought to you by Cameron Brooke

Oh, hello there.

My Aunt Brooke is currently flying down to see me get Baptized. My Mom chose her as my Godmother, so she is really going to have to step up her game and come down here more often to spoil me rotten. I'm excited to have her feed me oatmeal (since it's my new fav) and give her a test run of what it's like to have a 'me'. Don't worry, I will make make her work for it. I plan to make it as real as possible, crying, pooing, and spitting out food. She's gonna love it! I'm sure she will post some pics when she gets back. How could you not take a ton of pictures with a face like this?

XOXO, Cameron Brooke

What I'm Listening To..

I know I'm going to lose MAJOR cool points here....

but currently I'm listening to this...

You may need to see the movie too. Just sayin.

I like to tell myself I love Nicholas Sparks so much because every story is set in the South. On the big screen I get to see the mossy oak trees, salty marshes, and the vast beaches I love so much. Hearing the crickets and seeing the afternoon sun makes me feel like I'm home again. So if Miley Cyrus is sticking her bottom lip out and scrunching her eyes to play a troubled teen, so be it.

At least that's how I justify it in my mind, even if I did think it was a really good movie.

My Tree

Isn't she pretty?

Her cherry blossoms came last year and knocked my socks off. I waited again this year with baited breath and here she is. She doesn't stay for long though, probably because she knows I wouldn't appreciate her half as much if I saw her beauty everyday.

For now, I'm cherishing every blossom.

Dear Dad,

I just wanted to let you know, I made it up to heaven okay. I know you are worried about me but life is good, my legs work like new up here and the big man said he has a new best friend.

I just wanted to thank you for the great life you provided for me. All of our early morning and late night walks, sneaking me scraps under the table, wiping my drool when I got a little too close to your food and the cookies you gave me after I ran out and got the morning paper. I know you loved me every day, and I loved you right back.

Grandma Cora is making me her homemade sauce, so I gotta run. Don't be sad, just look back at the great times we had with a smile on your face, like I'm doing right now. I know we will miss seeing each other everyday but I will be waiting for you up here with Brian and Grandma. Let's be thankful for the time God let us have together. Thanks for being such a great dad.

Love always,
Cody
